Kris opened the West Taghkanic Diner upon returning to his hometown in the Hudson Valley after 15 years away. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, Kris moved cross country to work in the Napa Valley restaurant scene. Over the course of 8 years, Kris worked in several Michelin starred kitchens, eventually becoming the chef de cuisine of the James Beard Award winning Terra Restaurant.
Leaving California, Kris moved abroad to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he opened internationally acclaimed Bæst, alongside Christian Puglisi of restaurant group Relæ. Kris is thrilled to be back home & have the opportunity to once again work within the community to revitalize this local institution.

Kate has been dreaming up & crafting pastries for friends & family since she needed a step stool to reach the counter. Some years later, as a vocationally confused young adult, she decided to throw caution to the wind and turn her passion into a career.
After working through Manhattan kitchens ranging from small bakeries to Michelin starred restaurants, and after spearheading the pastry program at Cantine, a Brooklyn based cafe & catering company, she relocated to the Hudson Valley and hasn’t looked back. Having spent many a early mornings & late nights at her hometown diner, Kate hopes to share those fond memories through stacks of pancakes, sky high pies, and a warm welcome.
